Ray Murphy, president of Murphy's Pharmacies, graduated from the College of Pharmacy, Dalhousie University in 1973. In 1981, Ray & Carolyn Murphy purchased Parkdale Pharmacy. In 1986, Ray & Carolyn opened Southport Pharmacy in their future home community of Stratford and continued their expansion by opening Morell Pharmacy in 1989. Beginning in 1991, there were a number of changes to Murphy’s Pharmacies starting with Parkdale Pharmacy moving across the road to its current home and the opening of Island Home Health Care. In 1994, the Murphy’s built West Royalty Pharmacy on North River Road and expanded again in 2003 with the purchase of Cornwall Pharmacy. In 2006, Murphy's Travel Health Clinic was established to ensure Islanders will enjoy a safe, healthy vacation. Murphy's Pharmacies purchased the Basilica Recreation Centre, now known as Murphy's Community Centre to show continued support in the community. In August 2007, the Murphy's purchased Ramsay PharmaChoice in Kensington which is now known as Murphy's Kensington Pharmacy. In February 2008, Murphy's Pharmacies opened Wellington Pharmacy to serve the Evangeline community. In June 2008, Murphy's Pharmacies continued their Western expansion with the purchase of Tyne Valley Drug Mart, now known as Murphy's Tyne Valley Pharmacy. Murphy’s Pharmacies is committed to building healthier communities across Prince Edward Island.
